November 2017

With snow in the forecast, it feels more and more like winter is fast approaching.  The majority of the leaves have fallen and as the leaves fall many of our members depart for the winter to go south.  There is one exception:  two of our faithful members are moving east.  Charlie and Ellen Granger are moving back to Pennsylvania, their home state.  Both of them have been dedicated members of our church for over 25 years.  The Grangers were honored on October 22nd for the leadership roles they have both held.  They were recognized during the church service and the reception immediately following.  A gift was presented to them as a token of everyone’s appreciation.

A Chili Cook-off was held on September 27th with 28 members attending.  Ten people brought their version of chili for the cook-off.  First place winner was Linda Lockwood; second place winner was Shirley Shugar, and third place went to Delma Erikson. J Shirley Gallagher suggested and planned the event.  We owe Shirley a big thank you for her hard work.  All had a fun time and hopefully we will be able to repeat this event.

Thursday, September 28th, Carol Gelwicks, Barbara Metz, and yours truly attended a Cluster Meeting at the Manitowish Waters Presbyteri8an Church.  It was an enjoyable day of Christ Fellowship and a lovely luncheon, followed by a Biblical style show.  This meeting is open to all Presbyterian women and hopefully next time more women will take advantage of it.

The Small Supper Groups will meet in October and November, with 20 members participating.  These small suppers are a wonderful way for members to get better acquainted while enjoying a delicious meal.

Glenn Morrison took PW’s annual photograph that we send to our snowbirds in February.  Thank you Glenn, for this this every year.

The date has not been set for writing Christmas cards to members who are shut-ins or are away, but mark your calendars for December 10th when we will celebrate the season with a Christmas Brunch.

The next PW board meeting will be held November 6th at 9:30.  All women are welcome and urged to attend.
