October 2018

Fall is a time of transition.  As the leaves change color and the snowbirds begin to leave us, those of us who remain here hope for a long and warm fall.  Fall is usually a more leisurely time after a busy summer.  However, you spend your fall, raking leaves or traveling, we hope it is a good one.

The Art Fest, held on Thursday, Sept. 13, was a huge success.  Carol Gelwicks and Linda Lockwood took the lead, but, because of all who volunteered, their work was made lighter.  Seventeen members of the congregation displayed their artistic talents and 36 people attended the gala event.  These informal and fun events are an important part of our church and even if they are a lot of work, they are well worth it.

We all owe a big thank you to Billie Miller for a very successful season at the Attic.  The total received was $500 more that last year.  Billie attributes it to the many volunteers and the great donations they received.  A pizza party for all the volunteers ended the season.  Billie has said that she would like to see more donations of small furniture.  Also, she asks that we start saving paper bags for next summer.

The Lunch Bunch will meet on Monday, October 15th at the Island CafĂ©, at 11:30 AM.  We encourage you to sign up and join us for a fun event.

Mark your calendar for a special event coming up on Thursday, October 25th.  We will have an International Dinner thanks to Debbie Wilke and Shirlee Gallagher.  There will be a sign-up sheet with suggestions for side dishes and desserts.

CALLING ALL WOMEN!!  It is time to finish cleaning the sanctuary.  We hope those who are able will bring their buckets and join us on Monday, October 8th at 9:00 AM.  Most of the cleaning has already been done, so it will not be a long session.

Glenn Morrison has agreed to take the annual photo of the women on October 14th.  These photos are mailed to our snowbirds in February.

The next PW meeting will be held Monday, November 5th at 9:30 AM.  All women are welcome to attend, and we hope you will!

Mary Jane Hettinga, Co-President.

Betty Adams has served as treasurer for Presbyterian Women for twenty years.  She has done an incredible job of handling the funds for us.  We appreciate her dedication as well as her attention to detail.  She can account for every penny!!

At the PW Board Meeting on September 24th, Betty asked to be relieved of her position.  We want to thank Betty for doing such an excellent job for so many years.
